Kristīne Cīrule - voice
Michael Bohn - bass
Latvian singer Kristīne Cīrule (Riga) and German double bassist Michael Bohn (Bremen) met in 2018 while studying at the renowned Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. They played in the ensemble of jazz trumpet great Verneri Pohjola and quickly realized that they were not only on the same wavelength musically.
Still in Helsinki, they performed as a duo double bass - voice, were celebrated by the scene and were inspired by the Finnish nature and the peculiar Scandinavian light moods to their frst joint compositions. As equal protagonists, double bass and voice enter into dialogue and discussion, surprising, condensing, sounding earthy and light, powerful and delicate, as if viewing the world through a prism of nature experience, transforming its spectral colors into dazzling music. To this is added the appropriate spice of folk, contemporary classical and singer songwriter.
After numerous concert tours through Finland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and Latvia, their debut album "Growing" (unit records, Bern) will be released in May 2023.
